Thank you for sharing such personal experiences! This was a fascinating read. I’ve had a very different journey and I appreciate reading about how others approach topics like this. Thanks again for everything!!
Dang, dude! Super captivating read. I actually experienced sleep paralysis a LOT as a teen. I always had the feeling it had something to do with the house we lived in at the time. A lot of the houses in that town were built in like the late 1700s and early 1800s. I don't believe in ghosts, but weird stuff happened there that I straight up can't explain (doors boltlocking themselves, metal clanging sounds at the foot of the attic stairs like something fell, but opened the door and nothing was there, lots of other weird stuff).
The first time I experienced the sleep paralysis, I heard these weeeird voices like some were tuned super low and some were high pitched like the Chipmunks, but I couldn't figure out what they were saying. Just felt like they were watching me and talking about me. I always chalked it up to maybe my eyes opened during a nightmare and brain couldn't wake my body up so I kept dreaming while I was awake. Also felt like I learned things, but forgot what I learned when I woke up, if that makes sense? Dreams are weird. It wasn't until years later that I learned about sleep paralysis and I only started hearing about "downloads" a few years ago on TikTok.
It happened maybe a dozen or so other times, but I never heard voices or felt any sort of info. It happened years later when I was in my 20s living with my ex and I could feel someone standing in the doorway of our room. It was like I was outside of my body watching them watch me, but it was more like I just felt them, couldn't actually see them. That and the voices were the only other times I had sleep paralysis where it felt like I wasn't alone.
I still get it on and off, last time was like two years ago, but I figured out how to "scream" myself awake when it happens. Scares the crap outta my fiancée.
Alright, this comment is long. I'm super into the metaphysical so I absolutely loved this read and could go on about this shizz forever. Thanks for such a cool read and I'm looking forward to reading your comic!
